Our Story

The night we met, I went over to my friend's to pre-drink for homecoming.  She was living with her boyfriend at the time and he'd invited a couple of his friends from undergrad over.  When Colin arrived, I was on my fifth shot of tequila.  I'm an affectionate drunk and he thought I was hot.  We spent a good deal of the evening flirting before going to different bars for the night.

The next day I got up and I had an email from him where he:
  1. Made me laugh
  2. Admitted to stalking me on facebook
  3. Asked me out for a milkshake.
I wasn't sure if I was interested, but I talked to my friend and her boyfriend and they swore up and down that he was a really solid guy, so I said  yes.

On our first date, the plan was to go to a local ice cream parlour, except it was Thanksgiving Monday and so it was closed, so we ended up going to Dairy Queen instead...and stayed until it was closed.  We just couldn't stop talking.  And laughing.

So we went on a bunch more dates and continued to have a good time.  After we'd been dating about a month, I was anxious to have the exclusivity talk.  And then he changed his facebook status to "in a relationship"...so I asked him about it.

J: "So you're in a relationship? Who's the lucky girl?"
C: "Oh she's awesome. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll get to meet her one day."

And we both laughed and then nothing. But in my world people actually TALK about these things, so I tried again.

J:  "So...are we in a relationship?"
C: "Of course!"
J: "I thought we were just dating?"
C: "What's the difference?"
J: "Well, when you're dating it's just casual and you can see other people. When you're in a relationship, you're monogamous."
C: "Oh, we're monogamous!"

And that was that.  We haven't looked back. :)
